Rob d’Haen
I am married and live on the outskirts of Lelystad. My hobby is the Arab thoroughbred. After my study on the Dutch Intermediate Technical School, my first job was in the archiving business.
When I just started working, at the time they didn’t digitize documents yet. All documents, books and drawings were put on ‘microfilm’, it was actually photography. The quality check of equipment and the result was standing on a very high standard, because having to do one film over again, would take hours. Then, at the beginning of the 90’s the transition from analog to digital took place.
As Technical Manager I was responsible for the functioning of all equipment, for digitizing projects and for quality checks. With the breakthrough of the digitization, all kinds of software packages for image improvement, text recognition and OCR were developed. I can state that I have a lot of experience, when it comes to digitizing. My other business ‘A-Vision Imaging BV’, imports high qualified production scanners into the BeNeLux. This is how I got in contact with Jannes and Kees, by selling scanners and scan software.
Because of my discontent with most scan software at the market, then and now, I accepted the challenge to develop our own scan software package. This great scan software is called BIQE.
I used to tell my customers:
Bad input gives bad output!
But when it comes to BIQE, I dare to say:
Even bad input, gives great output!
